EA Commits Lifelong Xbox And PC Exclusivity for Titanfall

by Mike Futter on Oct 29, 2013 at 11:51 AM

During EA’s second quarter 2014 financial call, the topic turned Titanfall. Many have speculated that it's a Microsoft timed exclusive, but EA put those discussions to rest once and for all.

Addressing a question, chief financial officer Blake Jorgensen stated with no uncertainty that Titanfall is an exclusive for Microsoft platforms and PC "for the life of the title." If you want to play Respawn's first title, you won't be able to do it on a PlayStation 4.

For more on how Titanfall will use the power of the Xbox One, you can check out a video of the team explaining how they are maximizing the console's potential. If you'd like to know more about Respawn and the early days of Titanfall's development, a second video has you covered.

Update: Respawn co-founder Vince Zampella cleared up confusion about the scope of the exclusivity agreement. You can read more here.

Our Take
Titanfall as a lifelong exclusive puts to rest any speculation that Microsoft only contracted for a timed exclusive. This clears up any confusion about the marketing muscle Microsoft is putting behind Titanfall. Expect to see those giant, lumbering robots even more as the calendar turns and the March 11, 2014 release draws closer.
