by Meagan Marie on Apr 06, 2011 at 11:53 AM

The Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences has a handful of scholarships up for grabs, created to honor the memory of Randy Pausch and Mark Beaumon.

The Randy Pausch scholarship is comprised of two $2,500 awards, and is given in honor of his work as the co-founder of the Entertainment Technology Center at Carnegie Mellon University. The funds are intended to support students specializing in art, animation, programming, engineering, game design, sound design, and music composition in the game industry.

The second set of scholarships also includes two $2,500 awards in the memory of the late COO of Capcom North America and Europe, Mark Beaumont. The areas of specialization required to apply include business, law, marketing, and public relations.

“The AIAS Foundation is pleased to continue supporting students who are pursuing a degree and career in interactive entertainment,” said Martin Rae, president, Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences.  “Randy Pausch and Mark Beaumont made a huge mark in their respective fields, and we hope our scholarship recipients will do the same one day.”

If looking to apply for either of the funds, you must boast a GPA of 3.3 or higher, qualify as a full-time student, and attend an accredited college in the US during the 2011-2012 school year. Applications can be downloaded here. The final deadline for consideration is June 30, 2011.

Best of luck to any aspiring developers who enter the running!
