by Liana Ruppert on Oct 06, 2020 at 09:32 AM

The next generation is almost here and we've been learning a lot about the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S systems. Today, Sony revealed even more about what the PS5 auditory experience will be like, including 3D audio immersion and virtual surround sound for TV.

The PS5 Tempest 3D AudioTech aims to be a total game changer when it comes to how we experience various adventures. In a new blog post, Sony revealed that the Pulse 3D wireless headset will be an option for gamers to scoop up and will utilize the PS5's 3D tech to its fullest potential. With noise-cancelling microphones and the ability to work with both the PS4 and the PS5 systems, it's a nice addition for those looking to make the most out of their gametime.

Don't want a new headset? That's fine too, Sony says that the 3D audio technology will work with most headsets via USB and via the DualSense controller's headset jack.

Sony's Isabelle Tomatis added, "I’m happy to say that you’ll be able to enjoy the PS5’s Tempest 3D AudioTech through your compatible headphones in many PS5 games. Some of the PS5 games with 3D Audio features include Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered, Astro’s Playroom, Gran Turismo 7, Returnal, Destruction AllStars, Demon’s Souls, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, Sackboy: A Big Adventure, Horizon Forbidden West, Resident Evil Village, and many others."

As for the new system itself, 3D audio and all, PlayStation 5 officially arrives on November 12. Are you excited for next gen, or are you going to be sticking in this generation for awhile longer? Sound off with your thoughts in the comment section below!
