Which flavor of pain will you deal out to your enemies in the PS3 RPG?

  • Axes (and hammers) are the hardest-hitting but slowest weapon type. Color me surprised.
  • Bows are support weapons, offering status effects and healing skills in addition to long-range capabilities.
  • Long swords encompass two-handed versions of the classic melee weapon, and come with aura abilities that will presumably buff yourself and your allies.
  • Spears are for tanks. Come strapped with a shield and heavy armor, and the HP-boosting skills of a spear user will make you a tough nut to crack indeed.
  • Staves are – wait for it – for magic-using characters, boosting MP and magic and granting area-effect beneficial magic.
  • Swords are versatile, offering a blend of offense and defense. Magic- and agility-boosting knives fall into this category as well.

The weapons in the media gallery below have level requirements ranging from  55 to 80, so don't expect to get hooked up with this kind of an arsenal right away – especially with WKC's adoption of MMO-like gameplay, which makes you work for your loots.

D3Publisher is bringing White Knight Chronicles II to U.S. gamers on September 13, exclusively on PS3.
