Reggie Cautions Against Paying More Than $80 For SNES Classic

by Jeff Cork on Sep 11, 2017 at 10:19 AM

Nintendo's SNES Classic Edition is coming out later this month, and, thanks to the fact that online preorders were sold out minutes after they were made available, many of us have already given up hope of ever holding one in our hands. According to Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime, however, there's still hope.

Speaking to the Financial Times, Fils-Aime said that Nintendo has learned from the shortages surrounding last year's NES Classic Edition, and that it has "dramatically increased" production of the SNES Classic. In addition, he says that consumers shouldn't have to resort to buying the system at a higher price from resellers.

"I would strongly urge you not to over-bid on an SNES Classic on any of the auction sites . . . You shouldn't [have to] pay more than $79.99,” he says.

Our Take
I'll believe this when I see an SNES Classic on a store shelf.
