Star Wars Battlefront II Open Beta Coming In October

by Matthew Kato on Jul 10, 2017 at 11:24 AM

Star Wars Battlefront II was a hit the EA Play event in conjunction with E3 last month, and fans will be able to experience the Theed Galactic Assault map from the show (and more) in an open beta taking place in October.

The open beta starts on October 6 (PS4, Xbox One, and PC) and runs through October 9, but if you pre-order the title you can get into the beta two days early. If you do so you'll also get Yoda's Epic Lightsaber Mastery star card while supplies last. The star card and any other progress, data, characters, etc. will not transfer over to the main game, which is out on November 17.

The trial also includes a Starfighter Assault battle, but EA says that more details on this multiplayer dogfighting mode for the beta will be revealed at Gamescom in late August.

Our Take
I also played Assault on Theed at EA Play and really liked the map, the team objectives, and some of the new class wrinkles. I'm not sure yet, however, what I think of the hero spawning, as selecting them from the shared points pool seems to be a race to whomever can scroll down in the menu the fastest. It'll be interesting to see what people think of that during the beta.
