Lego Shows Off Star Wars: The Force Awakens Minifigures And Kits

by Mike Futter on Sep 04, 2015 at 08:24 AM

In case you haven’t been paying attention to the news, social media, online storefronts, and retail outlets, today is a special day. Not only are we headed into a long weekend here in the United States, but it’s “Force Friday.”

Disney has opened the floodgates, revealing action figures, remote control Sphero-made droids, apparel, and all the merch you could want to get ready for Star Wars: The Force Awakens. It is no surprise, of course, that Lego is in on the action.

The highlight of the seven-kit set is the updated Millennium Falcon. It’s nearly identical to the one I blogged about a couple of years ago. The difference is that it comes with an older version of Han Solo, Chewbacca, Rey, Finn, BB-8, Tasu Leech, and a Kanjiklub Gang Member.

There’s a new, black X-Wing flown by Poe Dameron in the film. That kit comes with Poe, BB-8, and two other minifigs. If you’re looking for two of the prominent villains, you’ll find a Kylo Ren minifigure in the Kylo Ren’s Command Shuttle set and Captain Phasma in the First Order Transporter kit.

Other kits include a TIE Fighter, First Order snow speeder, and Rey’s speeder. Each is accompanied by a brief video of the kit’s features. You can check them all out on the Lego website.

Get familiar with these. If history is any indicator, we’ll be using these in a Lego video game in the not-too-distant future.
