Street Fighter V Claws Back Into Beta With Regional Test Phases

by Mike Futter on Aug 20, 2015 at 05:19 AM

After a failure to launch earlier this summer, Capcom is getting ready to give the Street Fighter V beta another try. The beta test will roll out in three phases in the same number of regions.

Europe gets first crack at it, beginning today from 4 p.m. until midnight BST. The beta opens back up tomorrow, August 21, during the same window.

Capcom will be analyzing the results of the beta test to determine when North American and Asian gamers will be allowed in. Following the regional stress tests, Capcom will commit to the next five-day global beta.

Assuming all goes smoothly, this will be the first of three promised testing phases. If you have a code from the aborted beta in July, you’re all set for the regional and global tests coming up.

Update: Things aren't looking good out of the gate. Capcom's Twitter account announced that users are having login problems. We'll keep you updated.

Thanks to reader "slashwhatever" for the heads-up on the login problems.

Our Take
Street Fighter V will be judged in large part at launch by its netcode. Capcom needs this measured approach after the last test period’s meltdown.
