Nintendo Speeds Up Code Name: Steam With New Update

by Jeff Marchiafava on Apr 08, 2015 at 12:50 PM

Intelligent Systems' goofy strategy title has gotten a much-needed improvement thanks to a new update.

When associate editor Kimberley Wallace reviewed Code Name: Steam last month, she praised the 3DS game's wacky cast (which mixes historical and fictional characters including Abraham Lincoln and The Wizard of Oz), the comic-style visuals, and the variety of the encounters. Unfortunately, the game came with one glaring drawback: It features a massive amount of downtime as you're forced to watch the enemy's turn unfold at a snail's pace.

Thankfully, Nintendo has heard the complaints, and today the company released a free software update to speed up the affairs. Players can now fast-forward through the enemy's turn at twice the speed on the original Nintendo 3DS, and at three times the speed on the New Nintendo 3DS. It might not be as good as skipping them altogether, but it's a welcome feature nonetheless.

It's nice to see that Nintendo is taking the feedback of its fans seriously, and that Intelligent Systems was able to find a way to pick up the pace.
