Sir Paul McCartney Planning To Release Destiny Single

by Ben Reeves on Aug 08, 2014 at 02:38 PM

Iconic Beatle Paul McCartney isn't really a gamer, but he's still managed to be a part of a couple big game projects. In addition to Harmonic's 2009 release The Beatles: Rock Band, McCartney worked with Destiny composer Marty O’Donnell on one of Destiny's song, and the musician plans to release the track as a single later this year.

Marty O’Donnell is no longer with Bungie, but the work he did with Paul McCartney will still be featured in the game. The New York Times reports that McCartney's track is fully orchestrated and was recorded at the classic Beatle's studio Abbey Road under the direction of Giles Martin, the son of The Beatles producer George Martin. The theme of this Destiny song is hope, and while we don't have an exact release for the track, McCartney hopes to put it out shortly after the game.

Our Take
I'm not going to complain about this. Based on what I heard during Destiny's beta, the game's soundtrack is going to be phenomenal. I think it's great that game music is getting more recognition, and I'm glad that more people are taking notice of Destiny's soundtrack, even if it did take a Beatle for them to perk up.
