Filmmaker Anthony Rosner Details Return To World Of Warcraft After Overcoming Addiction

by Mike Futter on Sep 09, 2013 at 08:17 AM

In early 2012, we shared with you the story of Anthony Rosner, an avid World of Warcraft player. Rosner documented his life as a guild leader and raider in Blizzard's immensely popular MMO. Unfortunately, the young man became addicted, and it wasn't until forcing himself to step away entirely was he able to move on.

In his film titled IRL, Anthony detailed how he put his life back together. Now, he has returned to Azeroth, but things are different this time. In a new video called IRL 2.0: In Moderation, Anthony reveals how he is balancing his life and the game. He's approaching things more casually, and even abandoned his original character in order to start fresh.

You can see the original IRL film here and watch the new short below.

Our Take
My hope is that Anthony truly has found a balanced way to enjoy World of Warcraft. His obsession with the game as documented in the first video was unhealthy, and putting himself in the position to fall back into those patterns is risky. Anthony is very talented, and I only hope we don't see a new installment detailing his slide back into an old pattern.
