Rumor: CNET Says Hackers Planning Another Attack On Sony
CNET's Erica Ogg, who write the site's Circuit Breaker blog, claims to have inside information that a group of hackers is planning yet another assault on Sony this weekend.
Ogg writes, "An observer of the Internet Relay Chat channel used by the hackers told CNET today that a third major attack is planned this weekend against Sony's Web site."
According to Ogg's source, the hackers plan to publish "all or some" of the information they are able to steal, "including customer names, credit card numbers, and addresses." She also says her source told her that the hackers to claim to already have access to some of Sony's servers.
Should be an interesting weekend. Let's hope Sony's ongoing efforts at beefing up its security extend to its website and not just the current-down PlayStation Network.
