Grandia And Lunar Staff Making New Handheld RPG

by Joe Juba on Feb 16, 2011 at 10:02 AM

If you like old-school RPG favorites like the Lunar and Grandia series, you're going to want to keep on eye on UnchainBlades ReXX. The 3DS/PSP title comes from many of the creative staff behind those classic role-playing franchises.

Set to release in Japan on June 23, UnchainBlades is a dungeon-focused RPG that allows players to add up to 16 monsters to their entourage as they fight through the turn-based battle system.

Takahashi Hino (Grandia) and Toshio Akashi (Lunar) are the scenario designer and director, respectively. The main theme song will be composed by video game music legend Nobuo Uematsu.

No official word on a US release, but with talent like that, this is one RPG to watch.
