Medal Of Honor Sequel Incoming?

by Jeff Cork on Jan 07, 2011 at 03:27 AM

Even EA’s top brass said that the Medal of Honor reboot was a bit of a disappointment, with EA senior vice president Patrick Soderlund saying in November that he game failed to meet the company’s quality expectations. Soderlund did say of developer Danger Close that “Absolutely they're working on something.” If a recent job posting is any indication, it looks as though that something may be a sequel.

According to the listing, the studio is looking to hire a lead gameplay engineer for “an unannounced AAA first person shooter title.” The listing points out that applicants should have a good level of knowledge in areas such as weapons, vehicles, multiplayer and/or co-op development. You know, things that are in first person shooters. As 1up points out, it’s unlikely that the developer is following up its work on Medal of Honor with a completely new IP, though it obviously can’t be ruled out.

Still, a sequel would certainly fit in with statements made earlier by other members of the Medal of Honor team. DICE producer Patrick Liu, who was in charge of the game’s multiplayer, said that EA was looking at the first game as an investment—as opposed to a one-off—adding "In that sense, I think we're off to a very good start."

We’ll see what the next chapter brings.
