Jax And His Metal Arms Return For Mortal Kombat

by Ben Reeves on Oct 29, 2010 at 10:30 AM

This probably surprises no one, but NetherRealm Studios (formerly Midway Games Chicago) recently announced that the popular metal-armed bruiser, Jax, will be returning to the Mortal Kombat franchise for Warner Bros’ upcoming release.

Series creator Ed Boon appeared on a recent episode of Game Trailers TV to talk about the game and reveal Jax. Jackson "Jax" Briggs was the Special Forces major sent to rescue Sonya from Outworld and bring Kano into custody in Mortal Kombat II, though he was later given metal arms in Mortal Kombat III. In next year’s installment, Jax returns with a vengeance. His new fatality is reminiscent of his fatalities from MKII where he would rip the arms off his opponent.

Jax’s stage takes place in a subway station. As expected, players will be able to perform a special stage fatality involving oncoming trains. Of course, it wouldn’t be Mortal Kombat if it wasn’t as brutal as possible, so players will be able to rub their opponent’s face against several train cars before throwing them across the screen into an another oncoming train.

Everything we've seen regarding this new title makes it look like it could be one of the best Mortal Kombat titles in a long while. Stay tuned for more info as it becomes available.
