UPDATE: Dragon Age's Witch Hunt Released Today

by Joe Juba on Sep 07, 2010 at 08:14 AM

You don't need to wait for Dragon Age II to find out what happens to Morrigan after the events of Dragon Age: Origins. BioWare's Witch Hunt DLC is out today, tying up the final loose end of the story.

ORIGINAL STORY: After the death of the archdemon in Dragon Age: Origins, most of the game's major plot threads were resolved. However, one loose end remained: the fate of Morrigan. The latest DLC for BioWare's epic RPG will give players a chance to wrap up the story of Flemeth's daughter.

The official site for the DLC reveals its name as Witch Hunt, and promises it will provide a "dramatic conclusion to the Origins storyline." Witch Hunt is set one year after the end of Origins,  as Morrigan has apparently returned to wilds of Ferelden. There, with the aid of three new characters (only one, named Ariane, has been revealed so far), the Warden will confront Morrigan and earn rewards that can be transferred to Origins or Awakening.

Of course, since a year has passed since the events of the original game, players are likely to see a resolution to the whole "Morrigan's baby" issue. My big question is whether this DLC is meaty enough to give a satisfying resolution to this complicated situation; I had assumed that I'd have to wait until Dragon Age II to resolve this aspect of the plot. The pack costs $7, which is more than most of the previous DLC quests (Leliana's Song was also $7), so I hope it involves more than just a few quick fetch quests and another trip to the Korcari Wilds.

You can download Witch Hunt for PC, PS3, and 360 on September 7th. In the meantime, enjoy these screens:
