Medal Of Honor Single-Player Gameplay Glimpse

by Annette Gonzalez on Jul 20, 2010 at 07:00 PM

At EA’s media event this afternoon, the company showed attendees interview footage with real life Tier 1 Operators that the Medal of Honor team has worked with to help create the most authentic war experience possible. These men are tasked to take on the missions no one else can handle. Shortly after the footage, we caught a glimpse of the game’s single-player campaign that debuted with a mission titled “Friends from Afar.” In the demo a highly-trained member of the Tier 1 Wolfpack dubbed “Deuce” snipes his way across Afghanistan’s mountainous terrain picking off enemies from  great distances.

Deuce peers through his sniper scope across the rugged terrain, seeking out the threat across the field. The viewpoint moves in sync with Deuce’s heartbeat and the camera noticeably jumps whenever startled by a blast. Once enemies are spotted, the skilled operator takes several shots that exhibit a very notable delay to give a sense of the great range between the barrel and the target. After taking out several groups of enemies below, mortar fire comes in on the right. The enemy manages to get a few shots in before he is taken down. Finally, Deuce takes out a stealthy sniper hiding in the grass below to complete the mission by clearing the area. Still, his partner suggests they stick around and “keep killing motherf-ers.” They want to give their “friends” a proper greeting.

The team is rushed with a slew of enemy fire. Deuce tucks away the sniper for an automatic weapon and enemies drop like flies. Unfortunately the sequence is cut short as we’ll have to wait until the game releases this October to find out the fate of these brave souls.
