Writing wasn't even a consideration for Joey in high school, but his grandfather had other plans. He instructed him in the craft's beauty and resonating power through handwritten letters, and before Joey knew it, he was awakened to writing's joys during high school. He was clueless up until then about what to do with his life, but having been inspired by Game Informer's work around that time, he set his mind on marrying his lifelong enthusiasm for videogames with writing. He attended High Point University to pursue a bachelor's in Game and Interactive Media Design and somehow managed to score a master's in Writing Studies. During his college days, he not only wrote personal pieces for his website but also penned varied content for Push Square, Gamechurch, and TechRaptor. Besides the obvious, his interests include theology, game theory, sci-fi, and fantasy novels. He owns an unholy hoard of Bionicle and can recite all the lore surrounding them. He also enjoys playing piano, making videos, and ruminating over steaming cups of tea. But whatever you do, don't ask him about dragons. He likes them. A lot.
