Bahamut Figure Summoned By Square Enix

by Joey Thurmond on Feb 02, 2018 at 04:20 PM

Square Enix has an odd yet compelling assortment of figures in its Play Arts and Bring Arts series. The latter has a new one coming to the foray with Final Fantasy's iconic Summon Bahamut.

This particular iteration of the godlike beast resembles his Final Fantasy VIII appearance the most. Standing at 10 inches tall with a wingspan nearly twice as long, the figure is fully articulated and is painted in different ways to give a "luminous" effect to the scales and "luminous" appearance to the talons and horns. An attractive display stand gives the impression of Bahamut summoning crystals from the earth. The figure is currently available for pre-order on Square Enix's website for $134.99 and has a tentative release for July. Our Take
I've only played Final Fantasy X and XV, and looking over all of the iterations of Bahamut, I've got to say that I wish this figure took after the X's version. He was easily my favorite Summon from the game, but I've got to admit that this one from VIII comes at a close second for me. As majestic as they look, the wings look like they'll be a nightmare for balancing the figure apart from the display stand though. Other than that, how about a figure of Leviathan from Final Fantasy XV? Doubt you'd be able to pose her, but she'd still be quite the figure.
