Mega Man Getting His Own Live Action Film Directed By Catfish Creators

by Imran Khan on Oct 04, 2018 at 01:20 PM

Ever since the Resident Evil movies, which were wildly successful in the context of their budgets, Capcom has been in love with the idea of adapting their popular properties to film. There have been rumors of the company shopping around Dino Crisis, Onimusha, and Lost Planet to movie studios, and a Monster Hunter movie directed by Paul W.S. Anderson is already in the works. Now, it seems the developer's mascot character is also getting a shot at Hollywood fame.

The movie, currently just titled Mega Man, is written and directed Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman, best known for the movies Catfish and the third and fourth Paranormal Activity movies. Mega Man will be live-action, though it is unclear if that means it will be entirely so or a mix of live-action and CG like the Sonic the Hedgehog movie currently filming.

Capcom appears to be seeking a revival of sorts for their well-rested fighting robot, announcing the movie hot on the heels of the release of Mega Man 11 and shortly after the premiere of the cartoon series Mega Man: Fully Charged. You can find our review of Mega Man 11 right here.
