Double Fine Creating Content For PS4's The Playroom

by Tim Turi on Aug 30, 2013 at 06:40 PM

Last week at Gamescom 2013 in Cologne, Germany, Sony announced that The Playroom will come pre-installed on all PlayStation 4s. The game shows off the system's augmented reality capabilities with a collection of games that can be played with multiple people. Today at PAX Prime 2013 event in Seattle, Washington, Sony revealed Double Fine will be creating new content for the game.

Details are scant at the moment, but Sony says the partnership with Double Fine will bring DLC to The Playroom. We'll have to wait and see whether or not this new content will be available when the PS4 launches on November 15.

Our Take
Scooping up Double Fine to create new content for The Playroom shifted the pack-in title from obscure novelty to something with a little more weight behind it. Double Fine showed it knows how to create basic AR experiences with Happy Action Theater, but we're interested to see if the developer can create more engaging games with The Playroom.
