In partnership with the Major League Baseball Players Association, UMG has announced an esports series for MLB players. Their first event is the MLBPA Fortnite challenge. Trea Turner, Trevor May, and Lance McCullers Jr. are named as participants in UMG's tweet, but it promises even more players will be involved.

As mentioned, the esports event focuses on Fortnite primarily, which is unsurprising for its incredibly popularity. The sixth season of the popular battle royale game went live today, bolstering the desire for groups esports groups to participate in the game.

This isn't the first crossover between esports and the sporting community at large. Javy covered the Olympic Committee hosted talks with Overwatch League players back in July.
