DayZ Coming To Xbox Game Preview This Year, PS4 Release Teased

by Jon Bowman on Feb 05, 2018 at 12:19 PM

Bohemia Interactive reaffirmed its plans to bring DayZ to Xbox Game Preview sometime this year, while also hinting at an eventual PS4 release.

The news broke when a member of its social media team answered a query on Twitter.

The DayZ team is currently working on PC update 0.63, which includes vehicles, vaulting, swimming, revamping of combat, significant map changes, and larger player counts, as well as many other changes. The update was originally slated to release in 2017, but was pushed back to later this year. Once the game leaves Early Access Alpha and moves onto beta, it will be made available via Xbox Game Preview.

Our Take
It's been said before but bears repeating: DayZ will have some stiff competition by the time it hits consoles. PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds has already proven to be a survival shooter powerhouse and has only gained momentum since releasing on Xbox One. That said, DayZ has been popular since 2013, and it will be interesting to see how an eventual beta run would compete in the ever-growing landscape of survival shooters on console.
