The Pokémon Company Is Talking Up 2019's Switch Game

by Imran Khan on Jun 06, 2018 at 08:37 PM

The CEO of The Pokémon Company, Tsunekazu Ishihara, has not only been talking about this year's Pokémon Let's Go games, but also peppering in details about next year's Switch game, as well.

In an interview with Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu translated by Siliconera, Ishihara assures fans put off by some of Pokémon Let's Go's changes that the next title will be "completely different."

"We want to make Pokémon fans say 'this is what I've been waiting for' by delivering a brand-new product packed with gameplay elements and plenty of new Pokémon to encounter," Ishihara said. "The game will give a good understanding of what an evolved Pokémon game looks like after it has continued to succeed the traditions of Game Freak."

Pokémon Let's Go was revealed at the end of May delighting a lot of fans, but focusing more on Pokémon Go-style mechanics than a lot of longtime players expected. Game Freak and The Pokémon Company have tried to assure trainers that next year's game, which was announced at E3 last year, will be a more traditional experience for fans of the series. Ishihara's new statement also indicates they plan to evolve the series, as well.

Pokémon Let's Go: Pikachu and Pokémon Let's Go: Eevee are scheduled to release on Switch on November 16.

Our Take
As someone that is into the clean look of Pokémon Let's Go but not the new catching mechanics, I am hopeful for 2019's game to blow me away.
