Get A Better (Or Possibly Worse!) Look At PUBG's New Foggy Weather

by Kimberley Wallace on Sep 11, 2017 at 12:07 PM

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds has hit many milestones this year, including more than 1 million simultaneous players and selling 10 million copies. The Battle Royale-style shooter also has some improvements and updates on the way, such as a new rifle and first-person perspective leaderboards. Today, on PUBG's official twitter, it was announced that the next update's patch notes will hit tomorrow. To tide you over until then, the tweet also included some shots of the new foggy weather effect, which you can see more of below. This is sure to give snipers more of a challenge.

Our Take
Fog might not seem like that big of a deal, but it's bound to change some things up in how people play. In the past, developers have used fog/reduced draw distance to increase performance, but it appears to be strategic here. So much of PUBG's battles are sniper battles, and it's been a go-to way for people to dominate the field late in the game. Fog would obviously put a damper on this, causing people to adapt their strategy. It'll be interesting to see how it changes the game.
