Fortnite World Cup Behind-The-Scenes Walkthrough Is Mindblowing

by Imran Khan on Jul 26, 2019 at 03:20 PM

The Fortnite World Cup begins today, with a $30 million dollar prize pool waiting on the other side of it. As the first major Fortnite esports event, Epic is sparing little expense in how much they're going to throw at it, both in terms of spectacle and utility.

Today, Epic's director of video production Jeremy Hoffman posted a video walking through the production area of the Fortnite World Cup. While it may seem like a big collection of screens and wires for most, if you have ever dabbled in video production, it's certainly an impressive big collection of screens and wires.

You can see the events team focused on getting everything moving along in the best shape they possibly can, a veritable king's bounty of servers, people in purple shirts studying literal walls of monitors, and plenty of overheard commentary.

The Fortnite World Cup is going on right now in multiple phases. The Creative tournament started today and focuses on building more than destroying. After that is another Fortnite Celebrity Pro-Am, featuring celebrities like WWE wrestler Xavier Woods and Dante Basco, best known as Rufio in Hook and Prince Zuko in Avatar: The Last Airbender.

The actual competitive Fortnite starts on Saturday and goes through Sunday, culminating in a final battle royale that began with 100 million players months ago. You can find it all on Fortnite's Twitch channel.
