Skyrim Mod Makes Fun Of Game Of Thrones' Starbucks Cup Mistake

by Elise Favis on May 19, 2019 at 05:37 PM

In a recent episode of Game of Thrones, fans spotted an out-of-place Starbucks coffee cup beside Daenerys which was accidentally left there during production. Since then, the internet pulled no punches when poking fun at HBO for the mistake, and even some video game modders have joined in on the joke.

The "Skyland Coffee" mod, for example, was created by JohnRose81 and is available for players who own Skyrim: Special Edition. The mod replaces in-game tankards with coffee cups that resemble the Starbucks brand.

If you don't own Skyrim: Special Edition, there is a mod available for the standard game as well. It's called "Mysterious Coffee Cup" and was created by Sphered. Instead of replacing tankards, this mod specifically adds a Starbucks-styled coffee cup to the Solitude Throne room and the main Dragonsreach area.

As for Game of Thrones, HBO has since removed the Starbucks coffee cup from the episode thanks to some editing magic. The company issued a statement as well: "The latte that appeared in the episode was a mistake. Daenerys had ordered an herbal tea."

Game of Thrones' finale airs tonight at 9 p.m. ET on HBO.
