Rainbow 6 Patriots Holding Out For Next Gen

by Liz Lanier on Jun 13, 2013 at 10:50 AM

After a long hiatus of no information on the highly anticipated title, Rainbow 6 Patriots will be coming to next gen systems.

It seems that Ubisoft was waiting for the opportunities that next gen would allow rather than restricting the possibilities by only being offered on current systems.

“Rainbow 6 got caught in the transition of going to next-gen,” Tony Key, senior vice president of sales for Ubisoft in an interview with IGN. “Essentially we’re figuring out ‘well, are we making the right game for the right hardware systems?’”

Around the time of our December 2011 cover story, Ubisoft released an impressive introductory video that gave an inside look into what types of moral issues the plot would raise. However, GameStop's cancellation of preorders last month for Patriots spawned rumors that the title may be cancelled.

Unfortunately, there is no new information on the story or development of the title other than that it will be coming to the next console generation.

“We don’t really have anything else to announce or say about Rainbow 6," Key says. "But we will say it’s a really exciting project for us and we can’t wait to say more.”
