Cursed Mountain Developer Shutting Down
Reporting on studio closures always bums me out, even when it's small studios that most people haven't heard of. Koch Media confirmed to Develop this weekend that Deep Silver Vienna, the developer of the Wii horror title Cursed Mountain, will be the latest developer to close its doors.
Unsurprisingly, Koch cited "the current overall economic situation" as the primary reason behind this decision. It certainly couldn't have helped that Deep Silver Vienna's first game, Cursed Mountain, which released in August of 2009, went completely under the radar. Some employees are rumored to have offers to continue working elsewhere with Koch.
At the very least (or maybe this makes it worse), much of the team has been through this before. Deep Silver Vienna was originally formed under the name Games That Matter after Rockstar Vienna was shut down. That doesn't make the current layoff any more exciting, but hopefully it means those affected can bounce back.
