Shadow of the Beast
The action game remake of Shadow of the Beast has received a new trailer, digging into its brutal difficulty and offering backstory on the main character Aarbron.
Shadow of the Beast is a reimagining of the 1987 game of the same name for the Commodore Amiga, and was later ported to the Sega Genesis. Known for its unforgiving difficulty, Heavy Spectrum's remake aims to bring back that similar experience. Shadow of the Beast will feature a new difficulty mode called Beast, which Heavy Spectrum founder Matt Birch describes as "quite brutal."
The video also explores more of who Aarbron is and what challenges he faces. As a creature created explicitly to be manipulated as a war machine, Aarbron remains in the clutches of a mage during the beginning of the game. When he breaks free, his adventure truly begins.
Shadow of the Beast is a PlayStation 4 exclusive, and will release May 17.
