Swery And Arc System Works Announce Joint Project

by Jon Bowman on Feb 16, 2018 at 12:12 PM

Hidetaka "Swery" Suehiro announced that he will be teaming up with Arc System Works for a new game called The Missing.

Not many details were given on The Missing during Swery's announcement video, but he did say that the game "will blow your mind."

“The title, The Missing, has many meanings,” Swery says in the video. “A missing person, someone who’s lost, or even something lost… Maybe it’s your loved one… or a place you belong. Do you ever feel lost in your everyday life? The Missing is for someone like you.” He went on to say that Arc System Works, the team behind fighting games like Guilty Gear and Dragon Ball FighterZ, has allowed him to create something entirely new. "Arc System Works has been very supportive," Swery says. "They let me pursue my vision."

Swery created Deadly Premonition and D4: Dark Dreams Don't Die, but The Missing is the first project worked on in-house in Swery's new studio, White Owls. The studio's first game, The Good Life, is still being developed at Grounding Inc. and will be relaunching its Kickstarter campaign in March.

Our Take
While Swery's description of The Missing strikes a chord, it makes me a little nervous when a small studio tries to work on multiple projects at once. We'll have to wait and see the results of The Good Life's second round on Kickstarter in March to see whether or not White Owls will pull double duty.
