Disney Announces Mobile Shooter Star Wars: Rivals

by Imran Khan on Jan 12, 2018 at 02:28 PM

Disney and Lucasfilm have announced a new realtime mobile shooter set in the Star Wars universe titled Star Wars: Rivals.

The new game is a PVP multiplayer arena shooter, a genre in which Star Wars is now well-versed, but this marks its first appearance on mobile devices. Similar to games like Overwatch, you can switch heroes in and out as best fits the situation, but the playable characters have to be unlocked first through progression and drops. The rarer a hero is, the stronger they are, and access to stronger heroes is gated by progression in the Arena Leagues.

Heroes include Poe Dameron, Han Solo, Darth Vader, Finn, and Princess Leia, among others. Each hero has their own special ability to use, such as Vader's force choke.

The game is free to download, but will have purchases up to $99.99. Players who pre-register on the Google Play Store will get exclusive access to Death Trooper support units, while iOS players will get access to Rebel Special Forces for a limited time when the game launches. The title supports cross-platform play.
