Skybound Announces New Walking Dead Adventure Game For VR

by Jeff Cork on Jun 14, 2017 at 10:45 AM

The Walking Dead universe is expanding even further with the announcement of a new game. Skybound Entertainment and Skydance Interactive have entered into a partnership to develop a series of all-new games based on The Walking Dead.

Specifics are scarce at this point, but the the games will feature new characters and a new setting within the comic's universe. As with the source material, the focus is as much about character interaction and interpersonal relationships as it is fighting off waves of shambling corpses. Most interestingly, the adventure games are being developed for VR, and they're being designed as full game experiences, instead of the extended tech demos that are often on the platform.

Skydance Interactive was formed in March following the acquisition of The Workshop Entertainment. It's a subsidiary of Skydance Productions, a film and TV production company behind films including Star Trek Into Darkness, Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, and World War Z.

We'll have more details on the new games as they're made available.
