Telltale’s Batman Game To Be Revealed At SXSW

by Mike Futter on Mar 08, 2016 at 06:40 AM

During The Game Awards in December 2015, Telltale announced it was partnering with DC Comics once more. This time out, the developer known for The Walking Dead, Tales from the Borderlands, and Game of Thrones is taking on Batman.

We’ll finally have a better understanding of how that project is coming together in less than two weeks. Telltale is taking the stage at SXSW in Austin on March 18 to discuss how it’s applying its brand of storytelling to the Dark Knight.

Hosted by Kinda Funny’s Greg Miller, the panel will “dive deeper into the complex life and mind of Bruce Wayne, the duality of his own identity, and the struggle of responsibility in saving a city overcome with corruption and villainy.” Don’t worry if you won’t be at SXSW. You’ll be able to catch a livestream from home.

The panel takes place on March 18 at 4:30 p.m. Central. The stream will be hosted on the SXSW Gaming channel. Telltale is also working with Marvel on a project for 2017.

Our Take
While Rocksteady’s games have featured some investigative elements, Telltale has the chops to put greater focus on Batman’s intellect. As for the Marvel project, I have a strong suspicion that it might be tied to Netflix’s shows. Daredevil, Punisher, Jessica Jones, and Luke Cage are being fleshed out more than their big screen counterparts.
