Pillars Of Eternity Receives Its Second Expansion This Winter

by Parker Lemke on Nov 16, 2015 at 06:09 AM

Pillars of Eternity fans can look forward to new quests and abilities when Obsidian Entertainment releases the PC game’s second expansion later this winter. The White March – Part 2 will summon adventurers back to The Eastern Reach’s snowy borderlands.

Set to complete the story of Pillars of Eternity’s first expansion, the release will introduce a barbarian companion named Meneha, raise the level cap, and add a new “Story Time” mode that lets players experience the narrative at a faster pace. Writers Eric Fenstermaker and Carrie Patel are returning to pen the expansion's plot.

From the veteran studio behind Fallout: New Vegas and South Park: The Stick of Truth, Pillars of Eternity is a spiritual successor to Baldur’s Gate, Icewind Dale, and Planescape: Torment, featuring isometric, party-based gameplay and tactics. Funded by almost 75,000 backers on Kickstarter, the RPG has sold 600,000 copies since it came out earlier this year. The game has also garnered high marks from critics, including our own Matt Miller.
