Fenix Rage Dashes Onto Vita In 2015
Green Lava Studios has announced that its frustration-platformer Fenix Rage will be headed to another console next year. The game is out on PC now and already scheduled for Xbox One and PS4. It’s also coming to Vita in 2015.
Fenix Rage is designed in the spirit of other challenging platforms, like Super Meat Boy. Fenix has an infinite jump and dash, making for mid-air maneuvers along with traditional platforming.
The title is scheduled to arrive alongside the new-gen versions, which led us to send Green Lava an inquiry about cross-buy on PlayStation systems. We’ll update once we have a response.
The Vita version of Fenix Rage will have new content not currently available in the PC version, including new challenges and features. For more on Fenix Rage, you can check out our review.
Update: Publisher Reverb Triple XP says it cannot confirm cross-buy for PlayStation 4 and Vita at this time. However, "nothing is off the table," a representative told us via email.
Our Take
In our review, we called Fenix Rage “a respectable early effort for the three-man team,” but cited a number of design problems we found. Given the love for excessively difficult games like Spelunky on the Vita, it might find a better home there than on PC (especially if there are tweaks made that address some of the concerns we identify in our review).
