Report: Audio Files Hint At Upcoming Grand Theft Auto V Casinos And Custom Car Racing

by Mike Futter on Nov 27, 2013 at 07:15 AM

The latest update for Grand Theft Auto Online added a number of beach-related vehicles and clothing options. Some intrepid players have found some buried audio files that also hint at features possibly coming soon.

NeoGAF user “Allenous” has called out the audio files, which include references to casinos and custom car racing. The clips seem to indicate that players will be able to put their rides on the line in a race.

Other clips seem to indicate that the camera phone is going to get an upgrade. There is mention of spying on people, too.

Our Take
The big question about casinos is how they’ll interact with the real-money purchase of in-game currency. Rockstar doesn’t want to skate that close to gambling laws. As for the rest of the content, anything that expands the experience and offers more to do to keep players engaged seems wise. As long as the online experience is stable enough to ensure that wagers for custom cars don’t end in server-side catastrophe, that should be an interesting inclusion.
