Update: The EVO Championship Series is in its last day of competition and will feature streams of the new Killer Instinct, a special Injustice: Gods Among Us presentation, and the controversial Super Smash Bros. Melee tournament. You can head here to check out the streaming action.

Original Story:

The annual fighting game tournament has kicked off in Las Vegas, and you can watch all the action live online.

The EVO Championship Series 2013 has begun, with over 3,000 gamers gathering in Las Vegas to compete in nine games, including Super Smash Bros. Melee, Persona 4 Arena, Tekken Tag Tournament 2, and Street Fighter X Tekken.

You can watch all the virtual combat live at the EVO official site.

Our Take:

It’s been pretty amazing to watch the growth of competitive gaming in recent years. From shooters to fighting games to MOBAs, there’s a huge and growing audience that loves to watch the best of the best compete. While countries like South Korea led the charge in the field, it’s nice to see it becoming so successful in the United States. With partnerships being part of both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, we expect the rate of growth will only increase.
