League of Legends Surpasses 11M Monthly Users
Riot Games says it sees nearly four million League of Legends players daily, a 50 percent increase from just five months ago. The developer says it now has 11.5 million monthly active players and nearly 30 million registered players globally.
“The incredible passion and dedication of our players is positively inspiring,” said Brandon Beck, co-founder and CEO of Riot Games. “Our community’s boundless enthusiasm is why they are central to every decision we make at Riot.”
“It’s staggering to think about the fact that over a billion games of League of Legends since launch,” said Marc Merrill, co-founder and President of Riot Games. “In 2012, we intend to deliver even more for our growing audience.”
Riot Games will soon launch League of Legends: Season Two, which features a $5 million dollar prize pool – the largest in eSports history – and includes in a global $2 million tournament where Riot will crown the best League of Legends team in the world.
