Zynga Adds DreamWorks CEO To Board; Teases ShrekVille

by Ben Reeves on Apr 04, 2011 at 02:39 PM

CityVille and Mafia Wars emperor Zynga is making friends in the movie business. The casual gaming giant has just added DreamWorks Animation producer and CEO, Jeffrey Katzenberg, to its board of board of directors.

Katzenberg helped co-found DreamWorks SKG in 1994 and later helped branch the company by creating DreamWorks Animation. “Jeffrey redefined storytelling when he launched DreamWorks Animation," said Zynga founder and CEO Mark Pincus. “He turned an independent studio into a brand name, and his vision will be an asset as we work to define the future of play…Jeffrey and I have been friends for some time, and I knew he'd be a great fit for the board after he suggested that the blockbuster of 2011 could be ShrekVille.”

Who knows if ShrekVille will actually get made, but Capcom made a Smurfs game that was basically FarmVille; maybe ShrekVille isn’t that far-fetched.
