New WWE Title To Pit Legends Against Active Superstars?

by Dan Ryckert on Jun 02, 2010 at 06:39 AM

Between the Smackdown vs. Raw series and Legends of Wrestlemania, most of the past and present WWE roster has appeared in digital form. However, it appears that a new title may be on the way that will mix grappling legends with the active roster. Legendary wrestling announcer Jim Ross posted the following on his blog earlier today:

"It looks like WWE has lined up a really cool THQ video game for me to work on and that I will likely be broadcasting alongside the King in the game where Legends compete with active Superstars. I'm not sure of the release date or the creative details, etc., but the concept, as explained to me, was really cool. I hope to begin my voice overs in the next week or two. We're burning daylight on this one and need to get rocking. I'm ready!"

Details are clearly sparse, but the concept sounds promising. However, numerous stars from WWE's past (Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, Scott Hall, Kevin Nash, Kurt Angle, and plenty more) are currently employed by TNA Wrestling. Even if the TNA gang can't be included in the game, the WWE's roster from the 80s and 90s runs deep enough to fill a large character list. Personally, I'm hoping to finally play the Val Venis vs. Hornswoggle classic I've always envisioned. Then it's on to the Hell in a Cell between Johnny B. Badd and Sheamus. Or maybe I'd just play as Randy Orton and punt Doink the Clown in the head a few dozen times.
