[CONFIRMED] Rumors Suggest Third-Person Mode In Modern Warfare 2

by Dan Ryckert on Oct 26, 2009 at 12:00 PM

It's generally a good rule of thumb to take any mysterious "leaks" with a grain of salt, but this Modern Warfare 2 footage seems like it would be mighty hard to fake. YouTube user djplonker has posted a blurry, choppy look at what appears to be an unannounced third-person mode in Infinity Ward's sure-fire blockbuster. Despite the lack of audio, frequent interruptions by other windows, and a thrilling final 30 seconds consisting of a picture of some dude in his car, there's a substantial amount of seemingly-real footage in the clip.

Take this with the skepticism required with news of this type, but another piece of evidence points towards its authenticity. Below, you'll see a screencap of multiplayer modes that Infinity Ward forum members have translated. Supposedly, this is what the screen reads:

Team Deathmatch
Free For All
Domination
Ground War
Sabotage
HQ Pro
Search and Destroy
Capture the Flag
Demolition
3rd Person Team Deathmatch
Hardcore Team Deathmatch
Hardcore Search and Destroy
(undetermined)
Cage Match 3rd Person

What do you think? Does the evidence seem legit? Assuming it is, does 3rd-person gameplay in Modern Warfare 2 sound appealing to you?

UPDATE:

Robert Bowling from Infinity Ward has confirmed this rumor on his Twitter page with the following statement:

"Yes there's a leaked video. Yes it confirms a new Playlist type in MW2 & yes it's why I recommend a media blackout"
