Weekend Warrior 7/25/14

by Dimitri Gedevanishvili on Jul 25, 2014 at 02:00 PM

Even though working at Game Informer is great, it's still hard work. Sometimes we need to take a break from playing and writing about video games to...well, play more video games. It looks like many of us plan to spend this weekend relaxing, catching up on recent releases, or digging through some older titles. What are you guys up to?

Tim Turi: I've been in a weird place with games, recently. The most obvious game I've gotten around to checking out is Watch Dogs, which actually seems alright so far. Other than that I've been playing the first game from Monolith (Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor dev), called Blood. It's an old-school FPS with tons of gore and crazy weapons like a hairspray/lighter flamethrower. I'm also diving back into World of Warcraft to scratch that MMO itch. We'll see how long that lasts, though.

Jeff Marchiafava: This weekend I hope to get a little more time into the Destiny beta. I've been playing as a Warlock this time around, though I don't like the hover ability as much as the Hunter's speed double jump. Beyond that, I'd really just like to kick back and play some Zen Pinball 2, and see if I can steal some high scores from my fellow editors.

Ben Hanson: It's the weekend! I haven't thought much about what I'm going to be playing, but I'm looking forward to going on a Tron marathon (maratron) tonight with Tim Turi and Jeff Cork. They've never seen the original or the sequel, and I remember being surprised by how much I enjoyed both. Other than that, I'm hoping to finish off the campaign for Cannon Brawl (the 2D RTS on Steam) and play some local multiplayer. Oh yeah, then there's Transistor to finish up as well. But I've been saying that for a while.

Dimitri Gedevanishvili: If I have any time for gaming at all this weekend, it's going to be spent playing Destiny or Crown of the Sunken King as I wait for The Last of Us Remastered.

Wayne Stainrook: I recently picked up Shin Megami Tensei IV again, much to the chagrin of my free time... oh, who am I kidding? I have nothing better to do than fuse pig kings and leopard men together in the Cathedral of Shadows. Maybe I'll even finish it and get it over with!

Samm Langer: I'm going to do an open water dive to get my certification in scuba diving! I'll also give the Destiny beta a shot if I have time.
