He's a not a playable character, a point that director Masahiro Sakurai is quick to reiterate, but Skull Kid from The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask will be making an appearance in Super Smash Bros. on Wii U and 3DS.

In the accompanying Miiverse post for the screen, Sakurai says, "Here's a new Assist Trophy--the Skull Kid! I repeat, it's an Assist Trophy, not a new fighter. The characters announced on the website are the fighters!"

Skull Kid wearing the titular Majora's Mask will appear in Super Smash Bros. as an assist trophy. He will randomly appear to – I hope – drop a gigantic moon on the stage destroying everyone. The screenshot, posted by Sakurai on the Smash Bros. website, shows skull kid hanging out in Skyward Sword's Skyloft, which is just kind of cool to see.
