Charity Auction: Autographed Final Fantasy, Metal Gear & Legend of Zelda Display

by Meagan Marie on Mar 23, 2011 at 07:01 AM

Despite the steady bombardment of news relating to charity, auctions, and general ways to aid Japan this week, we’ve got one more epic contribution to share.

Sadly, this particular gem was already in the hands of a third party prior to the debut of Play for Japan, and as such wasn’t included in the industry-wide effort. Still, considering that 90% of the final sale price will be donated to the American Red Cross (sans a 10% seller fee) the auction is unquestionably worthy of promotion. The item comes from the personal collection of Steven Kent, author of The Ultimate History of Video Games and a longtime game journalist.

Included in the display above are copies of the most iconic games of all time – Final Fantasy, Metal Gear, and The Legend of Zelda. Each is signed by a creative genius: Hironobu Sakaguchi, Hideo Kojima, and Shigeru Miyamoto, respectively.

Great attention has been paid to the presentation, with the trio of games sealed away in a wood frame matted with green velvet. The case boasts museum glass to prevent fading of the items. Also included are several unique promotional items, such as a Final Fantasy VI timepiece, a Metal Gear 3 lighter/flashlight, and a Legend of Zelda pocket watch.

Check out the auction here and do your part to spread the word. Very rarely does an item of this caliber make it to market.
