Video: Official Nintendo DS Auction Update

In case you missed it, the autographed Nintendo DS I listed on eBay sold for a massive $4,050. All of the proceeds will be donated to the Red Cross to aid efforts in Japan.

I wanted to take a second and thank everyone for helping promote the auction, and to share a bit of information about the buyer. Check out the video below for more details, or find a choice quote from the winner below!

"I am just so happy to have won this amazing auction to help with earthquake and tsunami relief in Japan and raise awareness in such a fun way," said auction winner Joe McHale. "I have a lot of friends in Japan who are like my family and I just wanted them to know that America cares about them and we hope things get better soon. Please donate what you can, the American Red Cross is a wonderful charitable organization and can really help around the world."

Don't forget! We also have five GI bundles at auction to aid overseas. Check them out here.

  • LOL @ myself for saying that he "lived in the Japan office."
  • Wow. That is impressive. Too bad I somehow missed that this was actually going on.

  • I was going to bid on it, but the time I got there it was in the 1,000s. Instead, I just donated the 400$ to the red cross, figured I can live without the 3ds and some other luxury items if it helps my fellow man. Glad to hear the auction went so well.
  • Congratulations to the buyer for donating to a great cause while also getting a one-of-a-kind item. For a minute there I thought I heard Joel McHale (host of The Soup) won it.

  • Thank you for being so generous as to auction off your DS. It's gonna do a lot of good.

  • Is that a Zelda shirt? ;)
  • Thank you Meagan, your the one who did such a kind and thoughtful thing.

  • I posted a link to the auction on a club I made on wire to help spread the word about differnt video game companys and people who were runing charity events, I doubt it really helped to get any bidders but your welcome all the same, your a very good person Meagan!

  • Yayy!

  • Congrats Meagan! It was really generous of you to donate your DS for the Red Cross!

  • Great job on the sell Megan!  Way to contribute in helping out Japan.

  • This was so generous. I'm glad it was such a success!

  • Great job Meagan, and it was very generous of you McCale (I hope I am spelling that correctly) to help out this way.

  • You're awesome for doing this Meagan, congratualtions to everyone.

  • You did a great thing here Meagan

  • Christchurch?

  • Wow! Glad to see it did so well.

  • Woop!  Way to go!!

  • That was really great of you to do, Meagan. I know if I had that DS with all of those iconic signatures on it, I would of had a hard time parting with it lol But it was for a great cause and you pulled in a lot of $ for Japan so way to go. Side note, it's nice to see your face on here for once !
