Meta Knight Confirmed

After making his first appearance in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Meta Knight will be returning for the Wii U and 3DS version of the fighter.

On the Miiverse post accompanying his reveal, director Masuhiro Sakurai wrote, "'Looks like there was an impostor in the earlier posts, so I introduced him to my sword!' ...I'll leave it up to your imagination if he really said that or not. The veteran hero, Meta Knight, returns to battle!! We didn't forget the Battleship Halberd either!!"

Meta Knight has apparently gone through some gameplay changes for his second appearance. Sakurai writes on the Miiverse, "Meta Knight's Up Special Move, Shuttle Loop, changed quite a bit in this game. The glide is gone, and the attack slashes opponents twice while spinning in a large loop. This has turned into a highly technical and effective move." You can check out some more image of Meta Knight in the gallery below.

  • You have much yet to learn...

  • Woo! I loved Meta Knight in Brawl! Glad he's back. Sounds like he's been nerfed just a tad. That's probably a good thing. In Brawl, it seemed like he was at least two tiers above everyone else.
  • Sigh.......well at least most of my mains have been confirmed....
  • I swear, these character announcements keep getting duller and duller...
  • Hopefully he isn't as OP as he was in brawl.
  • Not much of a surprise. Just like Ness WILL BE announced soon.
  • Please don't be as broken as in Brawl. That sh*t was stupid.
  • Yes!

  • And let the spamming with Meta Knight continue XD! Still a cool character, wonder if they powered him down ^^

  • Sakurai didn't drag out the MK trolling too long.

  • Aw, I liked the glide...
  • Boo!

  • This news made me a happy camper this morning. I don't care if he was overpowered or not in Brawl, the roster would have felt emptier without his inclusion, and the Kirby series deserves to maintain three representatives. That being said, I wonder just how much his moveset has been tweaked....
  • Hopefully he isn't overpowered as sh*t

  • Translation: Meta Knight ain't gonna be OP no more.

  • Mod

My "Meta Knight getting banned" senses are tingling

  • Meta Knight was always a cool character (in a design sense, not the brawl fighter). Its awesome that he is back.

  • Nintendo stop teasesing me and give me the game already. Still sore from the nipple clamps

  • And my third main is back, now I am happy. Whoever voices Meta Knight has one hell of a awesome voice. Edit: I'm seeing a lot of broken and OP commets. By those you all mean how you can take advantage of those long invicibility frames from most of his moves?
  • *frightened* I... am Groot.
