The extremely popular Pokémon Trading Card Game shows no signs of slowing down (even getting more popular over the last year). Later this month, players will have the chance to add a ton of new cards to their collections by way of the new Sword & Shield – Chilling Reign expansion. The expansion adds more than 190 cards to the Pokémon Trading Card Game, including dozens of Pokémon from the Galar region, 15 Pokémon V, eight Pokémon VMAX cards, and several new Single Strike and Rapid Strike cards.

We were sent a box of booster packs for the new Chilling Reign expansion. Upon cracking open the packs, I was pleasantly surprised by the number of gorgeous full-art cards in the expansion. I particularly loved the VMAX Calyrex cards and the Galarian Zapdos. I'll also always have a soft spot for Blissey, so it was cool to snag one of those in my pulls.

Check out the coolest and most powerful cards we pulled from the Pokémon Trading Card Game: Sword & Shield – Chilling Reign expansion below. If you think you want to add some of the cards to your own collection, the expansion launches on June 18.

If you've been away from the Pokémon Trading Card Game for a while, the game has evolved in myriad ways since its initial run. While that holographic Charizard you probably traded for in 1999 is still highly sought after (even more so now, actually), the team behind the card game has installed several new mechanics, including a new Tag Team system where a single card can feature multiple Pokémon working together to perform extremely powerful moves. The most recent addition to the Pokémon Trading Card Game came in the form of the Battle Styles system, where the same Pokémon can have different cards with distinct behaviors and attacks depending on the form it takes. As you saw in the gallery above, that convention is on full display in Chilling Reign.
