With the announcement of the next PlayStation right around the corner, rumors and leaks have already started to circulate in anticipation of the February 20 event. Meanwhile the Wall Street Journal has announced that it believes Sony's next console will be able to stream PlayStation 3 titles off the cloud.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Sony's new console will stream old games over the internet using technology from a company Sony acquired last year. This means that the PS4 won't have the same backwards compatibility issues that the PS3 struggled with. Last year Sony announced that it had purchased cloud based gaming company Gaikai for over $380 million, so this all seems to line up. We'll be excited to get confirmation on all this news next week.
