I once spent over 30 hours playing Super Smash Bros. Brawl. You'd think I might be tired of the game at this point, but when I had the chance to play with some of the new characters in the Wii U version of the new game, I jumped at the chance.

The fighter list for Super Smash Bros. includes a lot of fun new faces including Mega Man (Mega Man), Villager (Animal Crossing), Wii Fit Trainer (Wii Fit), and Little Mac (Punch Out!!). I would have liked to have played with the recently announced Miis or Palutena, but they were not available at the show, so I settled on Little Mac. This tiny boxer packs and nice punch. He's a very close up fighter, but he's fast and likes to mix it up with quick jabs and uppercuts. Little Mac has a power-up move where he can charge up a one hit knockout attack.

I liked Little Mac's other special attacks too. His straight lunge is a strong, chargeable punch that is hard to dodge, but leaves Little Mac's back vulnerable. His jolt haymaker sends him leaping across the battlefield. Hitting up and special attack sends Little Mac flying into the air in a rising uppercut. When Little Mac is on the ropes he can do a counterattack that, when used, causes a red wave that represents Little Mac's heartbeat to appear before Little Mac counter-punches his opponent. I did pretty well with Little Mac when I was playing against Nintendo's booth attendants; I felt unstoppable.

Later that night, I took Little Mac for another spin during a Smash Bros. tournament going on during E3, and failed terribly, which made me think that maybe Nintendo was letting me win. But this Greninja character. He seems pretty cool.

If you want some more impression about Super Smash Bros. from E3, check out Kyle's write up about how he liked the Wii Fit Trainer. Kyle is weird.
